William Batler Yates (1865-1939) is one of the greatest poets of Ireland, equally belonging to Irish and English literature, playwright, laureate of the Nobel Prize in 1923 literature – “For inspired poetic creativity, conveying in a highly artistic form the national spirit.” The prose of Yates is somewhat less known than his poetic heritage, but no less interesting. The present publication included the most significant prose works of Yates – “Celtic twilight”, “secret rose” and “stories about red halrahan”, which constitute not only a collection of fascinating stories, but also a guide to Irish history and mythology, which served as an inexhaustible source of inspiration of the poet.
