Bodler: Jean Baronyan

The famous Belgian writer Jean Batist Baronyan describes in his book the dramatic fate of one of the most striking predecessors of the French symbolism of Charles Baudler (1821 – 1867). His poetic creations caused the most conflicting feelings in society – from admiration to indignation, and Baudelaire accused the moral principles and subjected the trial for the publication of the cycle of poems “Flowers of Evil”. But Bodler was also a very talented publicist and translator. Articles and essays dedicated to artists and writers, and the translations of Edgar’s works in his work occupied no less place than poetry. His undoubted talents recognized such pillars of French literature as Hugo, Gauthier, Saint-Bev, and outstanding artists Kurb, Delacrois and Manet wrote his portraits.
