The Big Academic Dictionary is the most significant in terms of normative vocabulary dictionary of the Russian language. It contains and explained more than 1,50,000 words of the Russian language of its classic (XIX century) and new (XX-XXI) periods. It includes the generally used vocabulary of the Russian language of the Pushkin era to the present day, reflects the words and turns of speech, widespread in everyday life, in the scientific and professional environment, that is, in all areas of life of a person speaking in Russian; Separate words of limited use found a place in it: highly specialized, dialect, jargon, quite widely used in conversational speech, as well as in artistic and popular science literature.
