The publishing program “New History of Art” began in 2004. The purpose of the program is the publication of materials covering the little -known pages of the history of Russian art of the twentieth century. New chapters of history gather from these pages. They open up cultural layers that are able to change the configuration of the history of art, and which ignores modernity when it refuses or is not able to read and develop them.
Artists, whose works are dedicated to the first books of the series, are known to historians of art, but are not always familiar to a wide circle of spectators. This state of things was the result of censorship, which is subject to the process of compiling a body of texts on the history of culture. This censorship could be called political if in the text about the art of the twentieth century today a narrow ideological meaning was not attributed to this word.
