The Belgian poet-symbolist and playwright Emil Verkharn (1855-1916) occupies a prominent place in world literature. The themes of his works are different: these are the chanting of the beauties of his native Flanders, and lyrical and patriotic poems, but first of all he is interested in the rebellious spirit of man.
