I. M. Sechenov (1829-1905) – an outstanding Russian physiologist who discovered the phenomena of central inhibition, summation in the nervous system, which studied the respiratory function of the blood, which laid the foundations of the physiology of labor, age, comparative and evolutionary physiology. Pavlov called Sechenov “the father of Russian physiology.” The creation of the first physiological scientific school in Russia, which was formed and developed at the Medical and Surgical Academy, Novorossiysk, St. Petersburg and Moscow Universities, is associated with the name of Sechenov.
