For the first time, the Russian viewer will get the opportunity to get acquainted with the illustrations of “Alice in the Zavykalier” to the extent of the quality and details of the drawing that the artist himself conceived. The highest clarity of prints allows you to evaluate the skill of tenniel, masterfully working out even the most insignificant nuances of the images that were not noticeable when printing from the casts. It should be noted that these engravings are not copies of original drawings: the tenniel personally painted all illustrations on printed boards from which relief cliches were cut out. Engravings advised the artist not to use them directly to print illustrations, but to use modern replication technologies. As a result, metal copies were removed from the boards by galvanoplasty, which were used for the mass printing of illustrations.
