This book is the first fundamental monograph on the work of Alexei Yavlensky, an outstanding Russian artist of the twentieth century. Having left Russia back in 1896 and settling for many years in Munich, he very early “natural” became a member of the world artistic experiment of the beginning of the 20th century – the era when the history of contemporary art was happening. He was one of her creators.
With the name of Alexei Yavlensky, the formation of expressionism in European art, the creation of important art associations are associated. At the same time, being a deeply Russian man, maintaining close ties with the Russian artistic environment, he brought the traditions of Russian culture into European painting, primarily its high spirituality.
The artist who has become world famous during his lifetime, whose canvases today are estimated at auctions of millions of dollars, is forgotten in his homeland. There are practically no paintings in Russian museums. This book provides the reader with the opportunity to get to know everyone …
