Viktor Yakovlevich Rubanovich was born in 1916. In 1937, a second-year student of the Architectural Institute was in the camp. It is amazing how, in that terrible setting, he managed to see good, find good people – and not only among political ones: among his heroes, both guards and criminals. Rubanovich’s stories are a portrait gallery of good people he met over difficult years.
Not everyone who happened to survive the terrible years of repression, and who found the strength to describe their life in themselves, have literary talent. Viktor Nikolaevich belongs to that small part who perfectly owns a pen. Some of his stories were published in the Almanac “Volya”, which produces the Return Society.
