In the history of Russian gathering of the second half of the 19th century, a special place belongs to the outstanding Russian bibliographer, bibliophile and collector Grigory Nikolaevich Gennadi. For contemporaries, this is explained not only by a characteristic of his remarkable collections that were scattered, leaving no descriptions behind, but primarily the Gennadi contribution to the domestic bibliography.
This book proposes a description of his collection of Russian engraved portraits, which enjoyed even more fame than his famous library. This collection takes its honorable place in the history of domestic collecting, and due to the abundance of unique and rare sheets, A. A. Vasilchikov and D. A. Rovinsky were actively used to write their monumental works on Russian engraving.
