Jonathan Litam is an American writer, author of nine novels, short stories and essays, which were published in The New Yorker, Harper’s, Rolling Stone, Esquire, The New York Times and others; Makanturov Foundation School Laureate (MacArthur Fellowsip, 2005) – it is called the “Award for geniuses”; The finalist of the National Book Citics Circle Award – World Fantasy Award, 1996. “Dissent gardens”, the last of Litham’s books, is a monumental family saga. The history of the three generations of “anti-American Americans” by the Angrash-Zimmer-Gogan gathers like a mosaic from fragments, scraps and bites of memoirs of many characters: among them the American communists of the 1930-50s, the hippies of the 1960s and 70s and the “occupy” activists of the 2010s. In this novel, where the episodes are carefully mixed and confused in places, the reader is invited to independently restore chronology and the logical interconnection of events.
