The Decembrist uprising is brutally crushed. The instigators are hanged, and the rest of the rebels from Senate Square were exiled to Siberia to hard labor. The nobles, the honor and conscience of the Russian officer corps, the smartest, highly educated people are uneasy to the level of the most powerless convicts. The gold of their epaulettes are trampled in the mud, all the former merits are forgotten. They only had wives – the same humiliated and disgraced. And the wives had the right – to loyalty and love, which even the emperor is not able to take away. And they, pampered noble women, graduates of the institutions of noble girls, leave children to the care of relatives and friends and go on the most crazy journey in the history of mankind – into frozen Siberia to husbands to divide the whole severity of tsarist punishment … After thirty years, Tsar Alexander II allowed the Decembrists to return and live in any city, except Moscow and St. Petersburg. But by that time there was almost no one left alive ..
