Stefan Zweig (1881 – 1942) – novelist, novelist, poet, author of literary biographies. One of the most popular Austrian writers is not only in his homeland, but throughout the world. “Stefan Zweig,” Gorky wrote about him, “a rare and happy combination of the talent of a deep thinker with the talent of a first -class artist.” In his memoir book, yesterday’s world, Zweig writes about the tragedy of those for whom Hitler’s coming to power meant death – both personality and European culture.
