Boris Pilnyak is known in the 20-30s of the last century, and then an undeservedly forgotten domestic prose writer. His name is now being revived, since he is a bright representative of the Soviet avant -garde of that time.
The book “Zavolochye” was written by B. Pilnyak under the impression of the V. Albanov’s diary he read “to the south, to the land of Franz Joseph.” Since then, the mysterious and mysterious Arctic, and its heroes-polar people as a magnet pulled him to them. And he with an expedition on a scientific vessel “Perseus” goes to the shores of Spitsbergen. The Arctic met the writer with a lot of trials, therefore, so personally, clearly, expressively, he represents the action of the book, reveals the meaning of the word “Zavolochye” unknown for most readers.
