Arriving for the summer to uncle and aunt, 12-year-old Henry York was sure that nothing interesting from the provincial town in Kansas should be expected. However, on the very first night that the boy spent in a room in the attic, strange things began to happen to him. After that, Henry discovered that on one of the walls in his room under a thick layer of plaster, pens and 99 small doors similar to compasses and 99, behind each of which are hiding another world. Together with his cousin Henrietta, the boy decides to find out more about the doors and make a journey through unknown worlds.
