The path of the Monk Barsanuphius (in the world of Pavel Ivanovich Plikhankov, a brilliant officer, colonel) was long in the monastery and a nonsense. But the world with its temptations and flaws never attracted him. He accepted monasticism as an invaluable blessing of God, as the highest bliss, which can only be achieved on earth.
