Vladimir Alekseevich Gilyarovsky (1853-1935) – not only Muscovites know and love. His name is known to the whole of Russia.
Journalist, reporter, Uncle Gilyai possessed an excellent gift to grow into an event, a witness or participant of which he was, the ability to instantly establish contact with any person who interested him. All of Moscow knew him, and he knew all of Moscow.
Gilyarovsky, with the same hobby, revealed the characters of the tavern regulars, actors, police, firefighters, the inhabitants of the “bottom” and aristocrats, and his poetic impromptu wandered throughout Moscow and all of Russia.
In addition to the fact that Vladimir Alekseevich had a reputation as the King of Moscow Reporters, he was a valid member of the Society of Lovers of Russian Literature, a member of the first Russian gymnastic society and the honorary firefighter in Moscow.
