How a Christian should relate to his health and his illness, how to take a terrible diagnosis, how to come to terms with the inevitable end and the loss of loved ones – all these issues serve the topics of the letters of St. Theophan the Recluse to different faces. The saint, calling sorrows and illness to the school of faith and patience and the sign of God’s love, comforts his spiritual children, calls for patience in a sent test and inspires hope for martyr’s crown, because only many sorrows should enter the kingdom of God.
