In the collection of works of the famous philologist Yu.K. Shcheglova, written by him for half a century of fruitful scientific and teaching in Russia and North America, is represented by work reflecting the diversity of the scientist’s interests: from general theoretical studies on the poetics of expressiveness and theory of literary genres to a detailed analysis of specific texts – novels, lyrical poems, comedies, epigrams.
The works of Ovid, Petronius, Arkhipet Kelnsky, Laroshfuko, Moliere, Viktor Hugo, Arthur Conan Doyle, G.R. are investigated Derzhavina, A.S. Pushkin, Denis Davydova, F.I. Tyutcheva, L.N. Tolstoy, A.P. Chekhova, A.A. Akhmatova, M.M. Zoshchenko, M.A. Bulgakova. A number of articles are written in collaboration with A.K. Zholkovsky.
The book requires attentive reading, especially where the author uses structural methods. But it is available to a wide circle of philologists and can be used in the study and teaching of Russian and world literature.
