The album introduces the reader to the work of Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890). A native of Southern Holland, the provinces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Van Gogh is the pride of national art for the Dutch. However, the French consider him a representative of the French picturesque school, because it was in France that he wrote his best canvases and developed as an artist-pre-impressionist, whose work gained worldwide fame. The gallery presented in the album allows us to understand the essence of different stages in the artist’s work, to get an idea of his two manners: early, Dutch, and mature, French. They are so different that they seem to belong to different personalities, however, comparing two stages in the work of the master, one can also find the features of their unity. At whatever time and in whatever conditions the artist worked, all his paintings are united by deep inner drama, reflecting the intense path of creative searches.
