The main task of the book is to portray the Soviet past in the usual perspective of the history of facts, but as a history of ideas, beliefs and errors of the average “homo soveeticus”, the inhabitant of the world of the Stalinist utopia. Based on the material of literature, cinema, painting, the art of the poster, as well as on the memoirs and journalism of the Stalin, the authors explore the specifically Soviet perception of such significant aspects of human life as the national-cultural space, dream, bodily, food, funeral ritual, vehicles, gifts of gift and ritual ritual, popular forms et al.
