This book includes letters of the great Russian artist, the unsurpassed master of the landscape of Isaac Ilyich Levitan (1860-1900). He was familiar with many prominent representatives of Russian literature and art: A.P. Chekhov, V. D. Polenov, A. N. Benois, S.P. Diaghilev – and conducted correspondence with them. The collection also published documents related to the Levitan training period at the Moscow Art School of Painting, Sculpture and Sculpture. The memories of the contemporaries of Levitan – his close friends, colleagues in the workshop – complement the publication.
